Business cards are ordered in large quantities, often on heavy stocks with thick lamination. The lamination is the main problem: it renders the card unrecyclable.
Sustainable cards that do not feel cheap
400gsm uncoated FSC certified stock has a substantial, premium feel without requiring lamination. Add a soft-touch aqueous coating rather than plastic laminate — the result is tactile and compostable.
Quantity guidance
250 is right for most professionals. 500 if you attend events regularly. Ordering 1,000 and having most go out of date is the most common waste pattern in business card print.
