If you have ordered print and seen FSC or PEFC on a paper spec, you might have wondered what they mean. Both are forest certification schemes. Both are credible. But they work differently.
What is FSC?
The Forest Stewardship Council sets standards for responsible forest management. Paper with the FSC label has been verified through a chain of custody from forest to printer. FSC comes in three types: FSC 100%, FSC Recycled and FSC Mix.
What is PEFC?
The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification works by endorsing national schemes. It covers more total forest area than FSC globally.
Which should you choose?
